Here is what you do:
  1. Visit us as much as you like. We love visitors!
  2. Mull over your decision.  Take your time.  Ask questions. Consider the benefits, and weigh them against the...
  3. Costs.  $20 initiation + $10 annual club dues + $54 International annual dues = $84 for the first year, and $64 every year thereafter.  We have adopted an ANNUAL dues cycle, where Toastmasters generally uses a SEMIANNUAL one. 
  4. Fill out the membership application.  (click the link).  --Remember to add on another 6 months of dues because we have an annual dues cycle. Here is some of the Essential information for the application:  Club #4178, District #36, and Club Name: VA Speakeasys.
  5. Hand in the application. Give your check and application to any Club Officer, or mail it to:  Scott Burgoon, Treasurer, VA Medical Center, Safety Office (138E), 50 Irving Street, NW, Washington, DC 20422.  He is at (202) 745-8000 x8372.
  6. Await your website registration.  You will receive an e-mail wecoming you to the club.  If you don't receive it, feel free to contact the Treasurer or Webmaster.  We want to expedite all member applications.
  7. Set yourself up with a mentor.  Use the link available to request one.
  8. Prepare for your Ice Breaker speech.  It is the first project in the Competent Communicator Manual. 
  9. Get on the Schedule. Go to the Members' Duty Roster (member log-in required).  Ask the Educational VP to put you on the schedule to deliver your Ice Breaker ASAP, if necessary.
  10. Deliver your Ice Breaker, and you're rolling!
